Decontamination of food films by electron beam

Nowadays, the food industry plants are working hard with a lot of drastic precautions to avoid the contamination of their products during their elaboration. However, the top priority to offer safe products to their customers can be cleared by simple bad packaging.

It is why the decontamination of packaging before adding products is crucial. In this spirit, the electron beam technology can be used at the end of the production lines of food films manufacturers or before packaging at food plants.

Electron beams have been known for effectively destroying microorganisms for decades and allow significant log reduction.

The challenge in developing in-line packaging decontamination solutions is adapting the e-beam treatment process to the variety of applications in the sector (film decontamination, preforms or formed packaging), at the required level of hygiene.

Decontamination of food films, preforms or bottles: all three solutions are now available, each with its own treatment process.

Electron beam decontamination uses no water, no heat or chemicals and has a very low environmental impact. It is also faster, which reduces the size of the decontamination modules.
